Daughters Of Tomorrow New Leadership Appointment

Daughters Of Tomorrow appoints New Executive Director for DOT, Ms Fannie Lim to focus on improving access to employment for underprivileged women, as its founder Ms Carrie Tan moves into advisory role.

1 September 2020 – Ms Carrie Tan, the founder of Daughters Of Tomorrow (DOT), a Singapore IPC charity, and newly appointed Member of Parliament for Nee Soon GRC, is stepping down as DOT’s Executive Director to focus her time on her constituency. Ms Tan will continue to support DOT as its Strategic Advisor. In response to Ms Tan’s resignation, the DOT Board of Directors has appointed Ms Fannie Lim as Executive Director with effect from today. In this position, Ms Lim will assume overall responsibility for the organisation’s administration, programs and strategic plan.

Ms Fannie Lim said, “I look forward to working with the DOT team and community as we enter a new chapter. I intend to fill the pages ahead with stories of many more women and families forging new paths while finding renewed hope for themselves. Here’s to a fulfilling journey of empowering women and enabling families, together.” Ms Lim started as a volunteer for DOT in 2016 and, since then, has held various positions in the organisation, playing an instrumental role in the-then newly launched Employer Engagement program, as well as Community Partnerships.

When responsible for the Employer Engagement Program, Ms Lim spent time educating and advocating employers towards a flexible and supportive employment culture. Under Ms Lim’s amiable yet firm leadership, the team successfully invited over 100 employers across the areas of retail, beauty, F&B, customer service, hospitality, production, home-based craftwork, cleaning, childcare and eldercare industries to join DOT as employer-partners pledging to provide core and stable scheduling and ensure holistic support for DOT’s beneficiaries. This successful recruitment in turn provided accessible employment for over 200 women from the low-income community within the last few years.

Ms Kim Underhill, President of DOT’s Board of Directors, said “On behalf of our Board of Directors and Daughters Of Tomorrow, we are thankful for Carrie’s passion and vision six years ago in establishing our incredible community to empower women and enable families. Under her leadership and guidance, DOT now has a strong team to continue her vision of supporting more women and families nationwide. We are confident that the transition from Carrie to Fannie, with the support of our Board, will enable DOT to remain strong, continuing its work to improve the livelihood and social mobility of our beneficiaries in Singapore.”

“Fannie has experience from the private sector as well as managing her own start-up business that helps her understand employer-partners’ resourcing needs. At the same time, being a mother to three young children, she empathises with our beneficiaries and the work-care conflict they go through. She has displayed great leadership and organisational abilities, most importantly, she is humble and believes in continuous learning – critical values that have contributed to our success thus far. I am confident that DOT will continue to thrive with her leadership.” commented Ms Carrie Tan, Founder of DOT.

Ms Tan’s new role with the six-year-old charity as Strategic Advisor will see her continuing to contribute in the strategy and future planning of the organisation. She will also serve as a mentor and coach to the new leadership during this transition.
