Zulayqha Binte Zulkifli

The Giver

Zulayqha’s story is one of grit and determination.

Ever since she was nine-years old, Zulayqha was actively involved in grassroots work, helping her local community.

In her late teens, Zulayqha’s parents divorced and sold the family home. This left Zulayqha and her three siblings in a dire situation, needing to find interim accommodation and support themselves financially.

Academically brilliant and hardworking, Zulayqha earned scholarships in ITE and polytechnic and used her scholarship allowance to help cover bills and necessities. For a period of time, Zulayqha was also the sole breadwinner of her family.

During the difficult times, Zulayqha never gave up. She uplifted her family, persisted with her academic studies and continued to help the underprivileged in her neighbourhood.

She is currently a social worker associate, pursuing a degree in social work and co-founder of Project Hills, a ground up initiative that works closely with residents in rental flats. Determined to make a difference, Zulayqha uses her resourcefulness and case management skills to bring in change and resources to the underprivileged.
